How to Maintain Your Stamped Concrete Pool Deck

Hamilton Stamped Concrete Pool Deck

Stamped concrete is one of the most durable and visually stunning options for a stamped concrete pool deck. However, to keep it looking its best for decades, a small amount of regular maintenance is essential—especially with the variable weather we experience here in the Hamilton area.

1. Regular Cleaning

The easiest way to maintain your deck is to keep it free of debris. Leaves, dirt, and organic matter can stain the surface if left for long periods. A simple sweep with a soft-bristle broom or a quick rinse with a garden hose once a week is usually all it takes.

2. Resealing Every 3-5 Years

The "secret sauce" to longevity is the sealer. A high-quality acrylic sealer protects the concrete from moisture penetration, UV damage, and pool chemicals. We recommend resealing your deck every 3 to 5 years depending on the amount of foot traffic and sun exposure.

3. Avoiding Harsh Chemicals

Never use de-icing salts on stamped concrete. These chemicals can penetrate the sealer and cause scaling or spalling (surface flaking). Instead, use sand for traction or a plastic shovel to clear snow without scratching the surface.
